Radio Design Group played a critical role in the development of the Modular Covert Remote Electronic Warfare Simulator (MCREWS). Developed jointly with the US Army’s Electronic Proving Ground (EPG) and Computer Sciences Corporation (CSC), MCREWS is one of the most sophisticated jamming simulation platforms available. System capabilities include:
- Data collection and storage.
- Up to four simultaneous jammers.
- Up to four radio outputs.
- Jamming levels as high as -20 dBm at the radio input.
- Frequency of operation from 30 MHz to 450 MHz.
- Modular design for expansion to other frequency bands.
- AM, FM, pulse and noise jamming, up to 25 MHz bandwidth.
The MCREWS unit makes extensive use of commercial, off-the-shelf (COTS) technology, building on our extensive experience in paging, cellular phone and data link development. The high-accuracy receiver, similar to those used in cellular phones, supports beacon based jamming, while commercial GPS technology is used for virtual jamming.
